Tauranga

The sophisticated city of Tauranga has a touch of everything to keep you occupied during your visit – from good shopping to a relaxing stroll by the sea, flightseeing over the Bay of Plenty, yachting, fishing, dolphin watching and even white water rafting. But despite the big city lifestyle, Tauranga keeps things to a relaxing pace to allow you the time to soak it all in. Set at the entrance to a beautiful, natural harbour, Tauranga has two large modern marinas holding over one thousand yachts and launches.

Mount Maunganui

Cross the harbour bridge from Tauranga to Mount Maunganui and you cannot miss the dormant volcano “Mauao” (known as “The Mount”) that dominates the landscape wherever you go in the Tauranga region. Walking the base or walking to the top of Mauao, make sure you take the time out for this and enjoy the fabulous outlook over the area. Mount Maunganui has become a very popular holiday resort, especially in summer, with its white sandy surf beaches dominating visitor interest.
